FUTURE THREATS
Putin is currently bullying the countries that were invaded in 1939 and 40.
Those countries suffered under Russian rule for decades. They know Russia, and want no part of it.
An Estonian view is one example:

“Russia has never been a democratic country and is unlikely to become one. Even after overthrowing previous rulers, the populace has always leaned towards yet another autocratic regime.”

Putin has also threatened Finland, Sweden, Poland, and others. His people have threatened nuclear strikes on London, Paris and Berlin from Kaliningrad.
These threats we call “warmongering”. Also “bullying”, terrorism & escalating tensions. Bullies get away with this, until someone stops them. Women will recognize the pattern, similar to a man who beats his wife. You do not suggest to a battered wife that she “negotiate” with the assailant. He will not stop. The invasions will never stop until he is gone.
